SC “Freda” – one of the oldest furniture industry companies in Lithuanian operating since 1880. At that time company was called “Elena” and it was major undertaking.
Since 1898 when the owners have changed the company became a sawmill.
Years of independent Lithuania the mill was located next to the sawmill and it had taken place.
In 1944 the company was ruined.
In 1947 after the sawmill was rebuild the wood processing factory had taken place.
Since 1974 furniture processing factory was known as „Vilija“ furniture factory and it was connected to furniture association „Kaunas furniture “.
December 6th, 1990 company was named JSC„Freda“.
In 2001 SC „Freda“ became the first member of close end company „Baltic Furniture Group“.
In 2002 SC „Freda“ was recognized to be a winner in the nomination „Lithuanians‘ best exporter of the year“.
In 2004 Lithuanian daily „Business news“ in it‘s organized contest „Gazelle 2004“ recognized the company to be one of the most successfully working and rapidly developing companies in Lithuania.
Since 2004 SC “Freda” took a strong position ant it became one of the biggest furniture manufacturers in Lithuania.
Since 2004 SC "Freda" works successfully concentrating all its’ sales for one customer – Sweden concern IKEA.
Since 2011 SC "Freda" is no longer a member of close end company „Baltic Furniture Group“. Company has detached and became independent.
